Birthday 2008

Posted by Tami Lynn in Events, Tidbits

My birthday this past summer was one of my favorites. I typically love to have a huge birthday bash and to be surrounded by all my loved ones, but this year I did just the opposite. I went away with one of my best friends on a little road trip/ferry ride to the Kitsap Peninsula.

Our first stop was in the quaint little town of Poulsbo. We ate scrumptious fish & chips at J.J.’s, played with Wrangler the dog (yes, he was awesomely named after a Jeep), poked around in all the cute mom & pop shops, and walked along the waterfront park and marina. I even bought some cute birdie stamps at a local stamp boutique, Rubber Soul.

We spent a day exploring beautiful victorian-style Port Townsend. I absolutely adore old architecture, and this town was built with it.

On our way to Fort Worden, we made some new friends…

I remember playing at Fort Worden as a child. Back then, I thought that the batteries were cool to play hide & seek in, but now I have grown an appreciation for the actual history they hold.

Boutique-style Yard Sale

Posted by Tami Lynn in Events, Tidbits

I have a deep appreciation for things.

To be more specific: clothes, hand bags, jewelry, shoes, home decor, cute dishes, books, stationery, and the like. Everything in my home tells a story of who I am and the life I have lived thus far. And, as I am getting older, this collection of “stuff” keeps growing…

To that end, I am finally purging.

Of course, much of what I own not only carries its monetary value, but also carries with it the value of many sentiments and moments shared with others.

Because this “stuff” is so meaningful to me, I can’t just give it away or sell it light-heartedly. For the last several weeks I have been planning and organizing a huge Boutique-style Yard Sale (see my craigslist ad) to say good-bye to these things I have loved and to hand them over to people who will hopefully care for and appreciate their worth as much as I.

Proceeds go to support the Seattle Midwifery SchoolTo make it more meaningful, my personal proceeds from this sale will be going to support the Seattle Midwifery School, this is something I am deeply passionate about.

Adding to the fun, many of my friends have gladly joined in on this event, supporting my big moment, and providing a wide-range of clothing sizes and goods to be available at the sale.

The requirements: Products must be top-quality in like-new condition, labeled with my cute little hand-made tags according to my pre-set format, and attached to the merchandise with a cute little twine bow. All clothing will be hung on racks and all non-furniture type items will be neatly arranged on tables adorned with vintage-style tablecloths. As a great side-benefit, preparing for the sale has brought the joy of many pre-sale labeling parties with friends.

I am always amazed at the bond that gets created when a group of people join together for a great cause.

Weather permitting, the event will be June 7th and 8th (this weekend) at the corner of 49th and Admiral in West Seattle. Click here for a MAP or see below!
